Primary Sources

Modern Era

MaxPreps.com

Public team history pages. Coverage begins somewhere between 2004-05 and 2010-11, depending on the sport.

Paper of Record

The Daily News (Huntingdon)

Huntingdon's paper of record since 1922. Its own web archive covers roughly 2010–present; older content is available through NewspaperArchive.com, indexed back to the 1800s.

Personal Archive

Submitted Clippings

Submitted newspapers.com and NewspaperArchive.com scans, plus MaxPreps PDF exports — the source of the complete 1970-2011 football archive.

Research Log

Confirmed PIAA District 6 membership and Athletic Director Dana Hudy via the PIAA school directory

Session 2

Confirmed 11 currently sponsored varsity sports across 3 seasons via the MUASD athletics site

Session 3

Sessions 5–8

Four NewspaperArchive.com research sessions, each with specific finds logged

Session 9

Pulled MaxPreps Team Leaders statistics pages

Session 10

Processed submitted PDFs: 14 files covering 2012-2025 statistics

Session 11

Processed 13 more submitted files covering 1980-2000 and 2007-2011

Session 12

Processed 10 more submitted files covering 1970-1979

Session 13

Processed a submitted Daily_News_Archive.xlsx — a normalized database

Session 14

That spreadsheet led to a correction: the 1993 rushing/scoring leader was Tink Stennett, not Ferdie Vaughn as an earlier, lower-confidence pass had recorded

Session 15

A submitted, more thoroughly corrected archive pass (Aug 2026) closed several open items at once: confirmed Alan Hartman's football head-coaching tenure ran 1986-1998 (68-63-3, winningest coach in program history) rather than starting in 2011; confirmed the 1976-1977 head coach's full name as Russ Quay; confirmed Mike Maclay's tenure ran 3 seasons (4-26) through 2005-06, with Dave Hummel's real debut in 2006-07; and traced the football program's founding back to 1912 under the “Captain Jack” nickname, with a complete all-time record of 350-507-31 through 2010

Session 16

A full re-read of the original 1993 season clipping settled that season's record at 10-1 (an undefeated 10-0 regular season, the program's first) — resolving the earlier 7-3-0 vs. 10-1 conflict in the district database's favor, though one small wrinkle (whether the regular season itself was 9-0 or 10-0) remains open. The same pass added full season-by-season won-loss logs for boys and girls basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, and soccer, plus fuller individual-stat detail across nearly every sport

Session 17

An October 27, 2011 Daily News clipping independently confirmed Taylor Miles as Mount Union's 1,000-kill volleyball player, documented the milestone match and supporting statistics, and identified Tessa McCormick as head coach

Session 18

Four distinct Daily News volleyball clippings from 2005 and 2006 established that Tessa McCormick's tenure began in 2005-06, added complete records for her first two seasons, documented assistant coach Renae Hobbs and early rosters, and recovered the 2004-05 team's 10-16-2 record and District 6 first-round appearance. A fifth submitted PDF was a duplicate crop of the August 30, 2005 newspaper page and was not counted as a separate source.

Session 19

A page-by-page review of all 90 archive images in the June 6, 1967 Daily News centennial issue added the Harbison-Walker company-baseball record, early football coaching chronology, the six boys-basketball league-title years, the program-age evidence for wrestling, and the 1966 baseball championship. Newspaper retrospectives and interview recollections remain labeled as such.

Have More Clippings?

This archive grows every time someone shares a program, a scorebook, a scanned clipping, or even a clear phone photo of one. If you have anything for a Trojan team — any sport, any era — it can be added here.
